Panama on päätynyt keskelle kansainvälistä myllerrystä, kun se on päättänyt irtisanoa merkittävän investointisopimuksen Kiinan Belt and Road -aloitteen kanssa. Tämä päätös on saanut Kiinan kritisoimaan Yhdysvaltoja "painostuksesta ja pakottamisesta".
