Tervetuloa takaisin, Notre-Dame! Viiden vuoden odotus päättyi, ja katedraali avaa nyt ovensa jännittävimmille vieraille. Tule mukaan juhliin!

Viisi vuotta sitten Notre-Dame katedraali koki tuhoisan tulipalon, joka lähes tuhosi tämän ikonisen Pariisin maamerkin. Nyt kuitenkin on aika juhlia! Pariisin presidentti Emmanuel Macron avasi katedraalin ovet uudelleen, ja juhlahumu oli kerrassaan ainutlaatuista. Muistot viiden vuoden takaa haihtuvat, kun katedraalin upeat kivigargoylet ja uudet, loistokkaat ei niin uudet tornit leijuvat jälleen taivaalla. Macronin ja muiden maailman johtajien läsnäolo tekee tästä avajaisista vieläkin merkittävämmän tapahtuman.

Vieraana oli myös Yhdysvaltain presidentti Donald Trump, joka tapasi prinssi Williamin juuri ennen tilaisuuden alkua. Kuka olisi voinut uskoa, että Trump tapattaa kanteen Pariisissa, mutta juuri siellä hän seisoi katedraalin edessä kuuntellen tulevien juhlallisuuksien melodiaa? Paljon oli puhetta diplomatiasta ja yhteisymmärryksestä, mutta kukapa ei olisi halunnut nauttia tästä historiallisesta hetkestä - paikalle oli tullut myös useita muita maailman johtajia, kuten Ukrainan presidentti Zelenskyy.

Katedraali ei kuitenkaan ollut ainoa, joka nostatti tunteita. Myös ensimmäinen messu katedraalissa viiteen vuoteen herätti liikuttavia hetkiä. Pariisin arkkipiispa siunasi uuden alttarin tuoksuvalla öljyllä, ja katedraalin äänet herättivät eloon sen pitkän aikakauden, jolloin sen ovet olivat suljettuna. Se oli tilaisuus, joka merkitsi paljon paitsi katoliselle kirkolle, myös koko maailmalle haasteista huolimatta.

Tiesitkö, että Notre-Damen katedraali on ollut olemassa yli 850 vuotta ja se on yksi maailman tunnetuimmista rakennuksista? Se oli ensimmäinen katedraali, jossa käytettiin flying buttress -tyylistä arkkitehtuuria, mikä mahdollisti sen upeiden ikkunoiden ja rakenteiden rakentamisen. Nyt, kun se avaa ovensa jälleen maailmalle, katedraali ei ole ainoastaan Ranskan, vaan koko ihmiskunnan aarre!
