Kesäolympialaiset Pariisissa ovat jo saapuneet, mutta ei niin kuin odotettiin! Purjehdusmitalikilpailut jouduttiin siirtämään puuttuvan tuulen vuoksi, ja nyt urheilijat kärsivät helteessä odottaessaan, milloin pääsevät taas uimaan kilpailuissaan. Tämä tilanne on herättänyt huolta urheilijoiden keskittymisestä, sillä odottaminen voi olla yhtä myrskyisää kuin meriveden myrskyisimmät aallot.
Purjehdus on kuitenkin pysynyt aktiivisena uutisissa, sillä kisat houkuttelevat suurimman ja monimuotoisimman purjehduslaivaston, mitä olympialaisissa on koskaan nähty! Yksipaikkaisia ILCA 6 - ja ILCA 7 -veneitä, entisiä lasersuksiveneitä, ikään kuin odottaisivat tuulen heräämistä. Yksinkertaisista muodoistaan huolimatta ne ovat kestäviä ja tehokkaita kilpailijoita merellä. Kilpailu tiivistyy, sillä laivastot ovat täynnä huippu-urheilijoita, jotka ovat valmiita lähtemään aaltoihin.
Tammikuussa kiinnitettiin huomiota myös parin uusiseelantilaisen, Jo Alehin ja Molly Meechin, yllätykseen, kun he uskoivat kisansa olevan ohi. Niin vain kävi, että kilpailu herätettiin henkiin! Nyt he saavat mahdollisuuden todistaa kykynsä uudelleen merellä. Odotukset ovat suuria, ja kilpailu on tiukkaa, kun urheilijat taistelevat jokaisesta sekunnista.
Ja kun tämä ei vielä riittäisi, niin Harvardin kasvatti Sophia Montgomery avasi kilpailun naisjollakilpailussa sijoittuen 26:nneksi 43:sta osallistujasta. Hyviä tuloksia haetaan, mutta pelkästään kilpailu ei riitä. Vain vahvimmat selviävät kärkikahinoihin, ja siihen tarvitaan sekä taitoa että tuuria.
