Satelliitti ERS-2 Valmistautuu Palaamaan Maahan: Mitä Tästä Tiedetään

Pudonnut satelliitti on tulossa takaisin maan ilmakehään, mutta ei hätää - tässä faktat!

Satelliitti ERS-2, jonka Euroopan avaruusjärjestö (ESA) laukaisi lähes 30 vuotta sitten, on valmistautumassa palaamaan maan ilmakehään tänään. Viimeisin ennuste ESA:lta kertoo, että ERS-2 saattaa laskeutua maan ilmakehään noin klo 15:49 UTC. Satelliitin odotetaan hajoavan noin 80 km:n korkeudessa. Vaikka satelliitin takaisinmeno on epävarmaa, ei siitä tarvitse huolestua. ESA ei kykene hallitsemaan 2289-kiloista satelliittia, vaan ainoastaan seuraamaan sen kulkua, kun se tekee tulisen paluunsa maahan. Euroopan avaruusjärjestö on myös voittanut sopimuksen kehittääkseen joustavan järjestelmän isäntäsatelliitteja varten MIURA 5 -projektiin.

Vielä tulevaisuudessa NanoMagSat ja Tango ovat kaksi uutta satelliittia, joita ESA aikoo rakentaa. NanoMagSat tulee tutkimaan maapallon magneettikenttää, kun taas Tango keskittyy kasvihuonekaasupäästöjen mittaamiseen ihmistoiminnan seurauksena. Miura 5:n ensimmäinen lento on suunniteltu vuodelle 2025 PLD Spacen kanssa. Vaikka ERS-2-satelliitti on palaamassa maahan avaruuden tutkimusmatkaltaan, se ei ole ainutlaatuinen tapaus - avaruusjätepaloja ja satelliitteja palaa maahan säännöllisin väliajoin.
